Current Volunteer Vacancies

We are looking for a Cellar Coffee bar volunteer

Volunteer Information and Role Description

Welcome to the Cellar Coffee Bar. We are pleased that you are interested in being a part of this exciting new project.

The Cellar Coffee Bar is run by Bridgwater Baptist Church and will be open to the general public from 10am – 2pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays initially, for the purchase and consumption of hot and cold drinks as well as light snacks. At least one of these days will be run as a Renew Wellbeing session. Renew wellbeing is a Christian charity which we will partner with to provide an inclusive safe space where it’s ok to not be ok. Volunteers will be invited to join our Renew Wellbeing training sessions to learn about this important element of the Cellar Coffee Bar’s life. In addition to this the Coffee Bar will be available to hire for private events by individuals and groups. Although activities run by the Baptist Church and other Christian organisations will often focus on aspects of the Christian faith, there is no requirement for volunteers to be followers of Christianity or any other faith.

We require a dedicated team of volunteers to make sure the Coffee Bar can run efficiently. General volunteers will be asked to sign the code of conduct and give details of a referee as part of their application, and to comply with our Safer Recruiting policy. Some other checks and training may be required for supervisory roles. Relevant training (Health & Safety, safeguarding, food hygiene etc.) will be provided if needed. There are different roles available within the Cellar Coffee Bar. The General Coffee Bar Volunteers will mainly be responsible for running the coffee bar when it is open to the public, and for activity sessions. At least two General Coffee Bar volunteers will be working in the facility for each shift. Basic duties will include greeting and interacting with customers, making and serving hot and cold drinks, taking payment for goods, and light cleaning duties (wiping tables and counters, washing dishes, taking out rubbish etc). Training will be provided for all basic duties as needed.

General volunteers who want to work in the kitchen will need a minimum of level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (training opportunities can be provided if needed). There will also be a Renew Wellbeing Host Team, lead by our project worker, who will take responsibility for running the renew sessions. Volunteers who are interested in joining the renew team will be invited to join a Renew training session. Opportunities to take on a supervisory role may become available in the future. Further training will be provided if needed. If you would like to join one of our volunteer teams please complete a volunteer form online or ask for a printed copy and return it to our project worker or management team.

Thank you for your interest.
